NXT, ARDR, JLRDA and IGNIS are all from the same developer, Jelruda. They announced the IGNIS IPO recently, where you can trade NXT for IGNIS on their platform. They also announced the Ardor platform, which is supposed to act as NXT 2.0 and that they would cease working on the original NXT platform. The IGNIS IPO was essentially to reward NXT adopters. Anyone who holds NXT in their NXT wallets later in October (date not set), are given free ARDR. NXT will then be merged with ARDR. What does this mean? NXT is virtually worthless by the end of the year. NXT is one of the few USDT pairs on Poloniex and can be shorted from here quite successfully.
You missed a crucial detail about the Snapshot of ignis after the ICO... not IPO FYI... During the snapshot all users with will receive .5ignis for every NXT they hold in their NXT wallet. This should drive demand through the roof going into the snapshot.
You get a free ignis token of an unknown market value. To think you can by ignis for cheap after the snapshot is not a promise. So what you get is free Ignis for owning NXT. Yes NXT could actually become worth zero after the snapshot, but your ignis will likely be worth 2 times or more of the value of NXT going into the snapshot. So if you think the ignis token will be worth anything decent after the snapshot then NXT will be worth at least that much going into the snapshot.
There is no other way to get Ignis tokens without buying them for an unknown value after the snapshot.
