(The Insurer) - Zurich Canada has restructured into four separate units each with their own leadership in a move the carrier said will more closely align its teams with key customer segments.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Toronto-based subsidiary said the “evolution is intended to streamline the way customers and brokers do business with Zurich and to deliver more tailored services to meet their specific needs”.

The first of the four new units is national accounts, which includes national general property and liability (including environmental and auto). It also includes a newly consolidated national energy, construction and marine unit, along with surety and financial lines.

The national accounts unit is led by Dane Hambrook, who moved into the position from his previous role as head of specialty products.

Zurich Canada’s newly formed alternative risk solutions unit comprises programs, MGAs and alternative risk transfer and captives, and is headed up by Marco Royer, previously senior vice president and head of liability.

The middle market unit remains under Donna Mulligan’s leadership and is focused on industry verticals including manufacturing, retail, professional services, real estate, wholesale, technology and construction.

The retail unit encompasses accident and health, travel and retail partnerships, both auto and home.

Zurich Canada’s head of retail, whom the carrier did not name, will report to Paul Jackson, the insurer’s head of customer and market management and retail.

“These changes are a reflection of our ambition to deliver simpler, more effective solutions and to build even stronger relationships with those we serve,” said Saad Mered, CEO of Zurich Canada.

“By aligning our organisation more closely with our customers’ unique needs, we are positioning Zurich Canada for sustainable growth and continued leadership in the market,” Mered added.
