DAX Down 1.5% on Week
The DAX reversed its early gains to close 0.28% lower at 17904 on Friday, hitting fresh 7-week lows, as increasing geopolitical risks and expectations of a hawkish stance from the Fed continued to suppress investors’ risk appetite.
Pessimistic economic data from China added further pressure, particularly affecting the prominent German automotive sector, with Porsche (-2.5%) and BMW (-2.1%) witnessing significant declines.
Sartorius (-3.1%) and Infineon Technologies (-2.2%) also underperformed.
Conversely, energy companies performed well, led by RWE (3.7%) and E.ON (1.5%).
Over the week, the DAX recorded a loss of 1.5%.
