Bull or bear market?
From a professional trading perspective, bear markets are defined by a 20% fall in an index from it's high.
The SPX High was reached on 04th of January 2022 trading at 4819. To calculate the bear market level multiply 4819 by 0.8 = 3855. The bear market level was reached on the 13th of June 2022 with a close of 3748.
The SPX low was reached on the 13th of October 2022 trading at 3494. The bear market level was then breached from below with a close of 3920 on 14 March 2023.
Have we now entered a new bull market?
