Gold prices edged lower on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump eased concerns by saying not all of his proposed tariffs would take effect on April 2, while a Federal Reserve official signaled caution about rate cuts this year.

Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic said he expects inflation to slow in the coming months and as a result, the Fed is now only on track to cut its benchmark interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point by the end of the year.

Bostic predicts the Fed will cut rates twice this year, in line with his peers' meeting last week, where the median forecast showed two 0.25 percentage point rate cuts by 2025.
