Shareholders Filed a Lawsuit Against Sable Offshore for Misleading Production and Regulatory Claims
Court: C.D. California
Case: 2:25-cv-06869
On July 28, 2025, SOC shareholders have filed a class action against Sable Offshore, accusing it of falsely claiming it had restarted oil production, misleading the market about pipeline progress, and failing to disclose key regulatory setbacks.
What is this lawsuit about?
Between May 28, 2025, and July 7, 2025, Sable Offshore announced it had resumed production at the Santa Ynez Unit and completed repairs on its pipeline system—claims made as it promoted a $165 million secondary offering. But in reality, the California State Lands Commission had not approved pipeline use, and the company had failed to submit required safety documentation.
SOC dropped 14.8% on June 20 and another 14.2% on July 8.
