STMicroelectronics is acquiring NXP Semiconductors' business focused on automotive and industrial sensors for $950 million in cash.

The European semiconductor company said Thursday the acquisition will allow it to further expand its position in the sensor market, particularly in automotive safety sensors.

The company said the acquisition will be financed with existing liquidity, with $900 million paid up front and $50 million subject to the achievement of technical milestones.

The transaction will close in the first half of 2026.
