$356M in Assets Leaves DIA as Dow Falls on EU Tariff Demands
The SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) had outflows of $355.9 million Friday, bringing its assets under management to $37.8 billion, according to data provided by FactSet. The outflows came as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 142 points and the S&P 500 ended flat after reports that President Donald Trump is demanding minimum tariffs of 15% to 20% on imports from the European Union.
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) attracted $2.2 billion, while the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) collected $966.7 million. The Simplify Government Money Market ETF (SBIL) gained $548.2 million, and the iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) pulled in $546.7 million.
The First Trust Capital Strength ETF (FTCS) had outflows of $2 billion, while the FT Vest U.S. Equity Buffer ETF - July (FJUL) lost $792.1 million. The Vanguard Extended Market ETF (VXF) experienced outflows of $543.9 million as tariff concerns weighed on markets.
U.S. equity ETFs lost $2.2 billion for the day, while U.S. fixed-income ETFs attracted $1.3 billion. International equity ETFs pulled in $737 million despite trade tensions. Overall, ETFs saw outflows of $46.4 million as the EU attempts to reach a deal ahead of Trump's Aug. 1 tariff deadline.
