Reminder - if it comes to this - US equity futures have 7% price limits circuit breakers
Meno di 1 minuto di lettura
If emini equity index futures (such as ES and NQ) fall 7% no further selling is allowed - the 'circuit breaker' is tripped. This is a basic explanation and more can be found here:
- CME Group U.S. Equity futures have 7% price limits overnight and remain open for trading at that limit.
More:
- During overnight sessions, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. CT ( 6pm -9.30am US Eastern time), a static 7% up-and-down price limit is applied. If the market reaches this limit, trading continues within this boundary without halts.
- Additionally, CME Globex utilizes Dynamic Circuit Breakers to monitor for significant price movements within a rolling 60-minute window. If a contract's price moves beyond a predefined percentage (e.g., 3.5% for certain equity futures) within this period, a brief trading pause is initiated to allow the market to assimilate information and manage volatility.
Different rules apply to RTH.
