Selfbook Picks PayPal (PYPL) to Power AI Hotel Bookings With Perplexity

Selfbook is teaming up with PayPal (PYPL, Financials) to bring AI-powered hotel booking into the mainstream.

The companies announced Monday that Selfbook will integrate PayPal's payment toolsincluding Venmo and Buy Now, Pay Lateracross its hotel checkout experiences. The move is designed to support bookings through conversational AI agents like Perplexity, which both companies already partner with.

The deal will allow travelers to book directly through chat and pay with PayPal, with access to exclusive rates. Hotels using Selfbook will be featured in PayPal's Offers tab, gaining exposure to millions of active users.

Selfbook CEO Khalid Meniri called the move a streamlined, AI-powered checkout experience that merges trust and value. PayPal CEO Alex Chriss said the collaboration reflects how AI is reshaping travel planning.

For hotels, the shift offers commission-free bookings and more control over pricingwhile tapping PayPal's global user base.
