OpenAI and Oracle Expand Stargate With 4.5 GW Data Center Deal

Meno di 1 minuto di lettura

OpenAI has partnered with Oracle (ORCL, Financials) to develop an additional 4.5 gigawatts of data center capacity under the Stargate AI infrastructure program, the company announced July 22. The expansion builds on the Stargate I site in Abilene, Texas, and advances OpenAI's goal to invest $500 billion in U.S.-based AI infrastructure by 2029.

Combined, Stargate sites will soon total more than 5 GW of capacity, supporting over 2 million chips to meet growing AI computing needs. Oracle recently began delivering Nvidia GB200 racks to the Texas site, where early training and inference workloads are already running.

OpenAI said the latest project will generate over 100,000 jobs across construction, operations, and related sectors. These include skilled trades such as electricians and data center technicians, many of whom are already working at Stargate I.

The company is also working with SoftBank on additional infrastructure projects and with Microsoft for cloud services. OpenAI's Stargate platform spans partnerships with Oracle, SoftBank, CoreWeave, and others to support AI development globally.
