JSW Motors, KPIT Tech partner to ramp up digital abilities for new energy vehicles
JSW Motors and KPIT Technologies have announced a partnership to develop a software and digital backbone for its new energy vehicles portfolio, a company filing by the software solutions company said on July 30, sending its shares sharply higher by 5 percent.
The partnership will see KPIT Tech bring advanced abilities in electric propulsion, battery innovation, and software-defined vehicle (SDV) architecture that enables continuous feature upgrades for 'world-class' automotive products by JSW Motors.
Ranjan Nayak, CEO of JSW Motors said the company plans to build world-class automotive products in India. "KPIT’s expertise in software and systems development is a cornerstone of our strategy to deliver best-in-class, technologically-advanced, high-performance, and sustainable vehicles," Nayak added.
JSW Motors also highlighted plans to invest $3 billion over five years to develop and make electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid cars in India. Under the partnership, KPIT will set-up a dedicated center of excellence for JSW Motors.

KPIT Tech has in the past said that it is exploring mobility-specific AI tools. "We are looking at how we can make a very automotive-specific or mobility-specific AI agents, platform tools, and along with our accelerators, it creates end-to-end solutions. So we would like to accelerate that part of the journey also during this year," Kishor Patil had said earlier this year.In the recent years, China's passenger vehicle space has seen a proliferation of innovation, with new products, features and variety for customers on offer in a very short period of time.
