Reach Subsea's USV Reach Remote 2 Sets Sail for Australia
Haugesund, 26.08.2025 - Reach Subsea is proud to announce that its pioneeringUncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) Reach Remote 2 is in route to Australia todeliverservices for leading Australian energy company, Woodside Energy. This marks asignificant milestone in Reach Subsea's commitment to providing cutting-edge,sustainable subsea solutions on a global scale.
The Reach Remote 2 USV will perform reservoir monitoring on the Scarboroughgasfield, utilising Reach Subsea's proprietary gWatch technology. This operationdemonstrates the USV's ability to reduce offshore personnel operational risks, cut costs, and reduce environmental impact compared to traditional crewedvessels.
gWatch is a reservoir monitoring technology widely used across Norwegian gasfields. It measures time-lapse gravity and seafloor deformation to detectsmallchanges in reservoir mass and pressure. These high-precision measurementssignificantly reduce uncertainty in gas reserves (GIIP) and aquifer influx, enhancing history-matching workflows and supporting more accurate productionforecasts and infill well planning.
Reach Subsea's CEO Jostein Alendal expressed his pride in this internationaldeployment:
"Seeing the Reach Remote 2 vessel sail 'down under' to deliver world-classservices to a company like Woodside Energy is a proud moment for all of us atReach Subsea. This project clearly demonstrates that the transition to aroboticfuture is not a vision - it's happening now. We are reducing HSE risks byremoving personnel from hazardous environments, reducing operational costs, andcutting the carbon footprint of offshore activities by up to 90%. It's a majorleap forward for the industry and a testament to what innovative technologycanachieve."
This deployment also marks the start of Reach Subsea's Inspection,Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) operations in Australia, supporting clients withhigh-quality,cost-efficient services across the energy sector.
