Swedish Current Account Surplus Widens in Q3
Sweden's current account surplus widened to SEK 117.4 billion in the third quarter of 2023 from SEK 74.2 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The goods surplus climbed to SEK 73.2 billion from SEK 47.1 billion a year earlier, while the primary income, which consists mainly of compensation of employees and investment income, registered a surplus of SEK 63.1 billion in the third quarter, down from SEK 70.5 billion.
Additionally, the secondary income, which includes international cooperation and donations and contributions to the EU, recorded a deficit of SEK 23.7 billion, down from SEK 26.1 billion a year ago.
On the other hand, the services posted a surplus of SEK 4.8 billion, switching from a deficit of SEK 17.4 billion.
