US Building Permits Revised Down

Building permits in the United States decreased by 0.1% to a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 1.393 million in June 2025, revised down from a preliminary estimate of 1.397 million.

Single-family permits decreased by 3.7% to an annualized rate of 866 thousand, while permits for buildings with five or more units rose by 7.9% to 477 thousand.

Regionally, permits declined in the Northeast (-16.3% to 103 thousand) and the West (-4.8% to 297 thousand), but increased in the South (4.4% to 775 thousand), and in the Midwest (0.5% to 218 thousand).
