Momentum shift CCI, MACD, RSI, AligatorIndicator for BTC only.
This indicator combines CCI MACD RSI AND William's alligator.
Bullish macd cross, RSI over 50, bullish William cross and positive CCI result in green background. Otherwise red background is displayed.
For better visibility extreme values can be displayed with greater color saturation. 1D BTCUSD is best with default values.
For other TFs Bull side and bear side values can be tweaked.
For bright red we may assume price to be `greatly oversold.
For bright green we may seek some profit taking.

NSDT Double MA ShadingThis script is an interesting take on Convergence and Divergence of Moving Averages. With the built-in MACD Indicator, you cannot make these adjustments to the settings.
DESCRIPTION
The top Moving Average is calculated on the High of the candle.
The bottom Move Average is calculated on the Low of the candle.
If the two are moving apart (Divergence), the shaded area between them turns Green.
If the two are moving together (Convergence), the shaded area between them turns Red.
This may help identify when a trend is becoming stronger or weaker, based on the shaded area and Moving Average direction.
POSSIBLE USAGE
For example:
If the MA's are pointing downward and the shaded area is Green - it means that average distance between the candle High and Low is getting wider, which may indicate a stronger downward movement. Then, when the shaded area turns Red, signaling the average distance between the candle High and Low are getting narrower, this may indicate that the downward movement is weakening, and may be the end of that downward trend.
SETTINGS
You can choose from EMA, SMA, WMA, RMA, HMA, TMA, and VWMA.
Although you can choose the MA Source, it is highly recommended to keep one source on the High of the candle and the other on the Low of the candle, for measure Convergence and Divergence.
All indicator settings are editable.
It can be used on Multi Timeframes (MTF).
This script is free and open source.
MarsMine_PEMTThis indicator uses a total of four indicators, 'ParabolicSAR', 'EMA', 'MACD', and 'TSI', to indicate the direction of the trend as well as the progress signal of the trend.
Basically, the overall trend is analyzed by the 'EMA' and 'TSI' indicators, and the buying trend is displayed in green and the selling trend is displayed in red candlesticks.
An additional buy or sell signal is generated, which analyzes all the 'Parabolic SAR', 'EMA', 'MACD' and 'TSI' indicators to indicate the beginning of a trend that is slightly more accurate than the trend displayed on candlesticks.

Symbol Comparison MACDHow is this different?
This indicator will calculate a MACD between two symbols chosen. As the two symbols price difference grows or shrinks this indicator plots same as MACD and crosses should indicate interesting things with the right symbol selection.
How to use this?
Simply choose a second symbol for comparison or choose two if main chart symbol isn't needed for comparison, the rest of the settings are quite standard to MACD/PPO settings though 14 period signal seems to align better with my intentions.
Which market is it meant for?
Any market, enjoy creating unique combinations and comment any interesting discoveries. I recommend market internals.
What market conditions does this apply to?
Any condition.
Stochastic Moving Average Convergence Divergence (SMACD)This is my attempt at making a Stochastic MACD indicator. To get this to work I have introduced a DC offset to the MACD histogram output. I figured that if theirs a Stochastic RSI their might as well be a Stochastic everything else! lmao enjoy. Honestly, from what I can tell it's even faster than Stochastic Smooth RSI.
The Stochastic Oscillator (STOCH) is a range bound momentum oscillator. The Stochastic indicator is designed to display the location of the close compared to the high/low range over a user defined number of periods. Typically, the Stochastic Oscillator is used for three things; Identifying overbought and oversold levels, spotting divergences and also identifying bull and bear set ups or signals
MACD is an extremely popular indicator used in technical analysis. MACD can be used to identify aspects of a security's overall trend. Most notably these aspects are momentum, as well as trend direction and duration. What makes MACD so informative is that it is actually the combination of two different types of indicators. First, MACD employs two Moving Averages of varying lengths (which are lagging indicators) to identify trend direction and duration. Then, MACD takes the difference in values between those two Moving Averages (MACD Line) and an EMA of those Moving Averages (Signal Line) and plots that difference between the two lines as a histogram which oscillates above and below a center Zero Line. The histogram is used as a good indication of a security's momentum
MACD + EMA System with AlertsSo I created the MACD Cross Strategy but not working alone by itself. I added EMA (Exponential Moving Average) filter to improve its winning rate so the MACD Signal only appears when in the same trend direction as Moving Average.
The Main Rules for Long Signal are:
- MACD Main Line Crossover the MACD Signal Line.
- The crossover happens below the MACD center line (0) so the momentum is strong.
- Price above the EMA 200 so it means the market is in a strong uptrend.
The Main Rules for Short Signal are :
- MACD Main Line Crossunder the MACD Signal Line.
- The crossover happens above the MACD center line (0) so the momentum is strong.
- Price below the EMA 200 so it means the market is in a strong downtrend.
The signal crossover & signal alert only generate as per the following rules above.
Limited MACDwhat is "Limited MACD"?
it is macd but it has some useful additional features.
what it does?
it takes limited values ??just like rsi. The highest value it can take is 100 and the lowest value is -100. this way it gets the same highs and lows for different symbols and time slots. which means we can set overbought and oversold values ??with it. he also paints candles according to their values. The closer the price is to the oversold values, the more red, and the closer to the overbought values, the greener.
how it does it?
macd values ??are limited by dividing by extreme values. The macd value is used as the variable for the color.rgb function, this is used to get a different color for each macd value.
how to use it?
The variables in the settings section are the same as standard macd.
Use the colors to identify overbought and oversold zones and to predict possible price reversal points. also the indicator will mark possible turning points. other than that, its use is similar to standard macd and its limits are up to your imagination.

Rolling MACDThis indicator displays a Rolling Moving Average Convergence Divergence . Contrary to MACD indicators which use a fix time segment, RMACD calculates using a moving window defined by a time period (not a simple number of bars), so it shows better results.
This indicator is inspired by and use the Close & Inventory Bar Retracement Price Line to create an MACD in different timeframes.
█ CONCEPTS
If you are not already familiar with MACD, so look at Help Center will get you started www.tradingview.com
The typical MACD, short for moving average convergence/divergence, is a trading indicator used in technical analysis of stock prices, created by Gerald Appel in the late 1970s. It is designed to reveal changes in the strength, direction, momentum, and duration of a trend in a stock's price.
The MACD indicator(or "oscillator") is a collection of three time series calculated from historical price data, most often the closing price. These three series are: the MACD series proper, the "signal" or "average" series, and the "divergence" series which is the difference between the two. The MACD series is the difference between a "fast" (short period) exponential moving average (EMA), and a "slow" (longer period) EMA of the price series. The average series is an EMA of the MACD series itself.
Because RMACD uses a moving window, it does not exhibit the jumpiness of MACD plots. You can see the more jagged MACD on the chart above. I think both can be useful to traders; up to you to decide which flavor works for you.
█ HOW TO USE IT
Load the indicator on an active chart (see the Help Center if you don't know how).
Time period
By default, the script uses an auto-stepping mechanism to adjust the time period of its moving window to the chart's timeframe. The following table shows chart timeframes and the corresponding time period used by the script. When the chart's timeframe is less than or equal to the timeframe in the first column, the second column's time period is used to calculate RMACD:
Chart Time
timeframe period
1min 🠆 1H
5min 🠆 4H
1H 🠆 1D
4H 🠆 3D
12H 🠆 1W
1D 🠆 1M
1W 🠆 3M
You can use the script's inputs to specify a fixed time period, which you can express in any combination of days, hours and minutes.
By default, the time period currently used is displayed in the lower-right corner of the chart. The script's inputs allow you to hide the display or change its size and location.
Minimum Window Size
This input field determines the minimum number of values to keep in the moving window, even if these values are outside the prescribed time period. This mitigates situations where a large time gap between two bars would cause the time window to be empty, which can occur in non-24x7 markets where large time gaps may separate contiguous chart bars, namely across holidays or trading sessions. For example, if you were using a 1D time period and there is a two-day gap between two bars, then no chart bars would fit in the moving window after the gap. The default value is 10 bars.

This indicator should make trading easier and improve analysis. Nothing is worse than indicators that give confusingly different signals.
I hope you enjoy my new ideas

MACD Strategy - Backtest [AlgoRider]█ OVERVIEW
Hello dear Tradingviewers !
We are excited to share with you this new indicator which simulates a trading strategy based solely on the well-known technical indicator MACD . We designed it for the sole educational and analytical purposes of showing novice traders and new investors that basing a trading strategy only on one such technical indicator is not necessarily a good thing to do. We do not recommend to apply this strategy for real.
Thanks to this indicator redesigned in our own way by incorporating our simple and easy-to-use Backtest functionality, you will be able to see and report on the performance and results that such a strategy has produced in the past.
The configuration window has also been designed to be easily readable and simple to use. Our goal is to make parameter customization as easy as possible.
█ HOW THE STRATEGY WORKS
• The script will simply trigger Long entries when bullish MACD crossings appear (the Macd line crosses the Signal line upwards) and Short entries when bearish MACD crossings appear (the Macd line crosses below the signal line).
• A Short signal ends a Long trade, a Long signal ends a Short trade.
• The script also allows setting up custom TP and SL.
• An option allows you to trigger early crossings, which will influence entries and exits.
• There is no repaint, once an entry/exit symbol or drawing is displayed it doesn't change anymore. The Short and Long signals appear at the open of the candles, just after the signal was confirmed at the close of the previous candle. The custom TP and custom SL signals can appear when a candle is not yet finished, but once displayed they don't change.
█ HOW TO PROCEED
1 — Once the script is applied to your chart, it already works with its default settings. You can already see the performance of the strategy in the data table directly on the chart (in the top right corner by default).
2 — You can customize the strategy and influence the results/performance by modifying its parameters. 3 types of parameters are present and can be modified.
3 — You can use this indicator in all types of markets.
4 — You can apply the script in every timeframe.
█ PARAMETERS
• Settings For Backtesting
- Strategy : Choose from a drop-down list if the strategy should execute only Long trades or only Short trades or both. Default Both.
- Invest. : Choose the amount you want to invest in the simulation. Default 10000.
- Position : Choose the amount of the position (Size order) that will be used during the simulation. This will be the $ amount staked/involved for each trade entry.
Ex: If you put 20000 in position and 10000 in Invest. We consider that you use at least a leverage x2. Default 10000.
- Slipp. TP : Choose the amount in percentage of average slippage for Take Profits. This parameter makes it possible to predict a potential gap between the theoretical exit price for each TP (On the graph) and the real exit price on an exchange when implementing the strategy for real (slippage may be due to a time lag of a few seconds from execution time of the order on the exchange and/or due to the execution of a market order).
Ex: If a TP exit order of a Long trade, with entry $19000 (on BTCUSDT ), is carried out in theory on the chart at $20000, in practice on the exchange the script have indeed sent an exit order at 20000 , but if the true exit price is 20050, the TP slippage is then +0.25%. Default 0.
- Slipp. SL : Choose the amount in percentage of average slippage for Stop Losses. This parameter makes it possible to predict a potential gap between the theoretical exit price for each SL (On the graph) and the real exit price on an exchange when implementing the strategy for real.
Ex: If an SL exit order of a Long trade, entry $19000 (on BTCUSDT ), is carried out in theory on the chart at $18000, in practice on the exchange the script have indeed sent an exit order at 18000 $, but if the true exit price is 17950, the slippage SL is then +0.278%. Default 0.
- Fees % : Choose the percentage amount of fees applied to each trade to simulate the application of the strategy on the exchange of your choice. Applies to the entry and exit of each trade. Ex: For Binance Futures: 0.04; For Bybit futures: 0.06; For Ftx Futures: 0.075. Default 0.
- Cumulate Trades : If you check this, the Backtest will use 100% of the balance as Order Size (Position) for All or in the next X consecutive trades. Default not checked.
⚠️ Be Careful please, this option is available to show the full extent and possibilities of the algorithm when pushed to its limits thanks to the accumulation of profits (cumulative earnings ), but it is a strategy that involves great risk. If a bad trade suffers a -50% loss, 50% of the account balance is lost, if the position is liquidated, the entire account balance is lost.
- All : If you check this All trades will be accumulated. Default not checked.
- Consecutive Trades : Choose the number of trades to accumulate. After X consecutive trades, the algorithm reassigns the initial order size to the current one and starts again for X consecutive trades. Minimum Value 2, Default 2.
• Settings To Optimize Performances and Risk Management
- Fast_MA : Choose the length of the Fast Moving Average. Default 12.
- Slow_MA : Choose the length of the Slow Moving Average. Default 26.
- Enable Early Crossings : If you check this, when the algorithm will detect an early crossing wethere bullish or bearish , it will trigger the Long or Short entries. Default not checked.
- Oscillator MA Type : Choose if the Macd line should be an Exponential Moving Average or a Simple Moving Average . Default Expo.
- Signal Line MA Type : Choose if the Signal line should be an Exponential Moving Average or a Simple Moving Average . Default Expo.
- Use TP / Use SL : If you check these, the algorithm will trigger personalized trade exit signals when the price evolution has reached the amounts indicated since the trade entry. Default not Checked.
- % TP - SL : Indicate here the personalized amount in percentage that you want for your Take Profit and Stop Loss of each trade. Default 15-5.
• Settings For Appearances
- Small-size Data Table : If you check this, the data table will become smaller to free up more space on the chart to make it visually more pleasing. Default not checked.
Hide Table /
- Hide Labels / : You can check these to get a cleaner chart and focus only on what interests you in the indicator. Default not checked.

█ LIMITATIONS
• ⚠️ We repeat it once again, this strategy is not intended to be reproduced in real conditions, we have designed it for educational and analytical purposes only.
• Even if you see good performances when you backtest the strategy, you must take into account that these results are performed in the past and that in no case does this guarantee that these same performances will be repeated again in the future.
• When you run for real a trading strategy you must be aware of the fact that you are solely responsible for the results that you will be able to obtain and you must be aware of the possibility at all times of partial or even total losses of your invested capital.
• Keep in mind that generating profits in trading is difficult. A strategy can perform very well at one time in the past during a period that is favorable to it, then from one day to the next it can give really bad results for several months or years.
• When backtesting a trading strategy, there are many factors to consider, not just trade entries to which you add a Take Profit and sometimes a Stop Loss. You must at least take into account the size of the position in relation to the capital you want to invest, the trading fees, the slippages (which can be really important depending on the exchange on which you are trading and depending on the asset you are trading), trading frequency, risk management, momentum, volumes and even more.

═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Important to note : our indicators with the same backtesting system are published in separate publications, because putting them together in a single script would considerably slow down the execution of the script. In addition each indicator, even when it is based on a simple technical indicator, has several options, parameters and entry/exit conditions specific to the underlying technical indicator. Finally, we want to keep the simplicity of use, configuration and understanding of our indicator by not mixing strategies that have nothing to do with each other.
Momentum - EddyThis indicator uses momentum, emas, macd trend, probability to find the best entry for both long and short positions.
L = Long
When the low goes below the green line (ema fast low), close is above open and momentum is up
S = Short
When the high goes above the red line (ema fast high), close is below open and momentum is down
XS = Exit short at potential bullish pivot
When the low is below a red step (probability) and below ema fast low and both ema fast high and low are 0.5 % (can be changed in the settings) spread, and high is below ema fast low and open is at least 0.2 % spread (can be change in the settings).
XL = Exit long
When the high is above ema fast high and above a green step (probability) with at least 0.2 % spread (customizable in the settings)
The win rate changes based on the % change parameter. The lower the % change the higher the win rate will be.
Green and Red background shows you a bull trend or bear trend. It uses the Mac signal (periods are customizable in the settings).
You can add alerts for Long / Short / Exit Long / Exit short.
You can adjust parameters in the settings.
Use your own judgement to place trades. This algorithm helps you remove the stress of trading.
To avoid false signals trade from 4h timeframe +.

Percentile Rank of Moving Average Convergence DivergenceThis simple indicator provides you three useful information of the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator:
The percentile rank of the current value of the MACD line, displayed by the bright blue line.
The percentile rank of the current value of the Signal line, displayed by the dark blue line.
The percentile rank of the current value of the Histogram line, displayed by the olive histogram.
This indicator can be useful to identify the strength of trend. This indicator makes the assumption that market tends to revert into the opposite direction. If the market has been trending a lot, it should consolidate for a while later. If the market has been consolidating for a long time, it would begin trending real soon.
When we see a low percentile rank, no matter which line it is, this tells that the market hasn't been moving much, or there is little momentum. If the percentile rank stays below the median or even below the first quartile for a long time, this could suggest that the market is ready for the next trend since it has stored quite some energy.
When we see a high percentile rank, no matter which line it is, this tells that the market has been trending a lot, or there is much momentum. If the percentile rank stays above the median or even above the third quartile for a long time, it is probable that the market has used up much of its energy and is going to take a rest (consolidate).
Divergence Cheat Sheet'Divergence Cheat Sheet' helps in understanding what to look for when identifying divergences between price and an indicator. The strength of a divergence can be strong, medium, or weak. Divergences are always most effective when references prior peaks and on higher time frames. The most common indicators to identify divergences with are the Relative Strength Index (RSI) and the Moving average convergence divergence (MACD).
Regular Bull Divergence: Indicates underlying strength. Bears are exhausted. Warning of a possible trend direction change from a downtrend to an uptrend.
Hidden Bull Divergence: Indicates underlying strength. Good entry or re-entry. This occurs during retracements in an uptrend. Nice to see during the price retest of previous lows. “Buy the dips."
Regular Bear Divergence: Indicates underlying weakness. The bulls are exhausted. Warning of a possible trend direction change from an uptrend to a downtrend.
Hidden Bear Divergence: Indicates underlying weakness. Found during retracements in a downtrend. Nice to see during price retests of previous highs. “Sell the rallies.”

MACD strategy + Trailstop indicatorWelcome traveler !
Here is my first indicator I made after 3 days of hardlearning pine code (beginner in coding).
I hope it will please you, if you have any suggestion to enhance this indicator, do not hesitate to give me your thoughts in the comments section or by Private message on trading View !
How does it works ?
It's a simple MACD strategy as describe here :
Uses of EMA 200 as a trend confirmer,
For sells :
When above Zero line (MACD) and under EMA200, we go on sell (background color is red)
For buys:
When under Zero line (MACD) and above EMA 200, we go on Buy (back ground color is green)
FILTERS !
I haded one filter to reduce noise on the indicator :
Signals aren't taken if one of the 14 last candles closed on the other side of the EMA 14.
What are the green and red lines ?
The green line is equivalent of a potential stop loss as a buyer side, same for the red one on seller side !
To make the space with the price bigger, please use "ATR multiplier" in the input options of the indicator while on your chart !
Is it timeframe specific ?
Hell no it is not timeframe specific ! You can try to use it on every timeframe !
As usual, I like to remind you that the best way to test an indicator is to go backtest it or to paper trade before using it on real market conditions !
If you find an idea of filter for a specific timeframe, do not hesitate to contact me ! I'll try to do my best to enhance this indicator as the time goes !
Is there repainting ?
There is no repainting on confirmation !
There's only a movement that I don't know how to ignore on the current open candle for the trail stop indicator I built, it should not be a problem if you place alerts to automatise your trading on the close of the candle, and not the high or low !
If you know how to resolve this problem with my code, I would be glad to get your tips to enhance the script ! :)
Example of the indicator in market (backtest, as said, no repaint on confirmation) :
Moving Average Convergence Divergence On Alter OBVOBV:
The OBV is perfect indicator to understand the strength of the particular stock. As the strength increase, the trend of the stock goes high along with price. But, the OBV is considered only with close of previous close which is to make sure the double confirmation on the price to accumulate the volume.
Altered OBV:
So, here is the altered OBV, which basically consider the close of previous close and also buying interested of the day when close is higher than open.
MACD:
I always admire the magic of MACD with pre-defined timeframe. Now, this MACD applied on top of altered OBV to signal us the moving of the ticker strength.
I hope the another MACDAltOBV would help on your swing trading strategy.
Happy Investing.
Adaptive Two-Pole Super Smoother Entropy MACD [Loxx]Adaptive Two-Pole Super Smoother Entropy (Math) MACD is an Ehlers Two-Pole Super Smoother that is transformed into an MACD oscillator using entropy mathematics. Signals are generated using Discontinued Signal Lines.
What is Ehlers; Two-Pole Super Smoother?
From "Cycle Analytics for Traders Advanced Technical Trading Concepts" by John F. Ehlers
A SuperSmoother filter is used anytime a moving average of any type would otherwise be used, with the result that the SuperSmoother filter output would have substantially less lag for an equivalent amount of smoothing produced by the moving average. For example, a five-bar SMA has a cutoff period of approximately 10 bars and has two bars of lag. A SuperSmoother filter with a cutoff period of 10 bars has a lag a half bar larger than the two-pole modified Butterworth filter. Therefore, such a SuperSmoother filter has a maximum lag of approximately 1.5 bars and even less lag into the attenuation band of the filter. The differential in lag between moving average and SuperSmoother filter outputs becomes even larger when the cutoff periods are larger.
Market data contain noise, and removal of noise is the reason for using smoothing filters. In fact, market data contain several kinds of noise. I’ll group one kind of noise as systemic, caused by the random events of trades being exercised. A second kind of noise is aliasing noise, caused by the use of sampled data. Aliasing noise is the dominant term in the data for shorter cycle periods.
It is easy to think of market data as being a continuous waveform, but it is not. Using the closing price as representative for that bar constitutes one sample point. It doesn’t matter if you are using an average of the high and low instead of the close, you are still getting one sample per bar. Since sampled data is being used, there are some dSP aspects that must be considered. For example, the shortest analysis period that is possible (without aliasing)2 is a two-bar cycle. This is called the Nyquist frequency, 0.5 cycles per sample.A perfect two-bar sine wave cycle sampled at the peaks becomes a square wave due to sampling. However, sampling at the cycle peaks can- not be guaranteed, and the interference between the sampling frequency and the data frequency creates the aliasing noise. The noise is reduced as the data period is longer. For example, a four-bar cycle means there are four samples per cycle. Because there are more samples, the sampled data are a better replica of the sine wave component. The replica is better yet for an eight-bar data component. The improved fidelity of the sampled data means the aliasing noise is reduced at longer and longer cycle periods. The rate of reduction is 6 dB per octave. My experience is that the systemic noise rarely is more than 10 dB below the level of cyclic information, so that we create two conditions for effective smoothing of aliasing noise:
1. It is difficult to use cycle periods shorter that two octaves below the Nyquist frequency. That is, an eight-bar cycle component has a quantization noise level 12 dB below the noise level at the Nyquist frequency. longer cycle components therefore have a systemic noise level that exceeds the aliasing noise level.
2. A smoothing filter should have sufficient selectivity to reduce aliasing noise below the systemic noise level. Since aliasing noise increases at the rate of 6 dB per octave above a selected filter cutoff frequency and since the SuperSmoother attenuation rate is 12 dB per octave, the Super- Smoother filter is an effective tool to virtually eliminate aliasing noise in the output signal.
What are DSL Discontinued Signal Line?
A lot of indicators are using signal lines in order to determine the trend (or some desired state of the indicator) easier. The idea of the signal line is easy : comparing the value to it's smoothed (slightly lagging) state, the idea of current momentum/state is made.
Discontinued signal line is inheriting that simple signal line idea and it is extending it : instead of having one signal line, more lines depending on the current value of the indicator.
"Signal" line is calculated the following way :
When a certain level is crossed into the desired direction, the EMA of that value is calculated for the desired signal line
When that level is crossed into the opposite direction, the previous "signal" line value is simply "inherited" and it becomes a kind of a level
This way it becomes a combination of signal lines and levels that are trying to combine both the good from both methods.
In simple terms, DSL uses the concept of a signal line and betters it by inheriting the previous signal line's value & makes it a level.

MACDBB HistoXThis is a custom modified MACD where some parameters have been customized and Bollinger Band added to the MACD . When the MACD is running above its upper Bollinger Band , it will be depicted as lime, and vice versa red.
Then the second set of histograms is am idea of mine where the opposing parameters of MACD signals are deducted off each other to reveal the underlying "momentum" of the MACD .
Hope that these tweaks of a ol'trusty indicator it works for those who are interested! Enjoy!
MACD DivergenceA simple MACD divergence indicator
It highlights the lack of strength on the buy side when the market rises.
The lack of strength on the sell side when the market is falling.
I hope you can have fun with it!
MACD x SuperTrend with trailing stoplossThis trading strategy is based on MACD crossover and crossunder. It uses the supertrend to identify the trend it is trading on and takes trades accordingly. You can use the built in risk to reward ratio parameter through the settings of the indicator for your desired R/R
My goal in creating this indicator was to learn about risk management. This indicator will put up a stop-loss and take profit target according to the entry point it shows.
This indicator showed me the best results on BTC at 5min price chart. I'm new to trading so, do your own due diligence
TARVIS Labs - Alts Macro Bottom/Top SignalsSCRIPT DESCRIPTION
PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS CAREFULLY.
This is a script specifically written to help provide indicators from a macro view for ALTS. This script needs to be run on the 1 day. It helps indicate when to accumulate alts, and when its in a bull run when this a bull run top beginning to form with warnings, and a indicator that a top is in. This is described further below.
NOTE - in order to accomodate most alts the script had to be broad enough in its indicators to cover many different scenarios. If you are trading a smaller altcoin I suggest taking a more conservative approach to accumulation.
FAQs:
1. Why is there no accumulation zone showing up before an uptrend?
This could be because the trend has been so strong for this coin that there hasn't been a strong enough signal to accumulate or this could be that the chart doesnt have enough historical data (needs over 2 years) for the indicators to flash green.
2. Why is there no tops shown for a chart Im looking at?
This is either because there isn't enough historical data (needs over 2 years) for the indicators to build or because the altcoin didnt perform as well as the rest of the market. The altcoin has to perform as well as the market over the length of the bull run in order for the signals to show. Typically an altcoin that shows sharp increases and sharp drops shortly after will not have signals show up.
3. The "Potential End of Bull Run Top Indicator" showed up but we weren't near the top yet, why is that?
The alts indicator has to work across many altcoins, and their trends are not all the same. This can lead to the indicator showing but not necessarily being the exact top. The data from the alts macro bottom/top signals should be paired with the "TARVIS Labs bitcoin macro bottom/top signals" indicator for BTC. The reasoning is because if the top is not showing that its in for Bitcoin its likely that the altcoin's top is also not in. You should use the two in tandem to know if the bull run top is very likely in.
ACCUMULATION ZONE INDICATOR - LIGHT GREEN
Description
When we look at the general crypto landscape, the 200d & 300d EMAs are extremely useful. We can use their cross and momentum in order to determine a bottom forming. If the price has fallen over 40% below the 200 day EMA and the 200 day EMA has crossed below the 300d EMA, its a downtrend with a steep fall, which could indicate a good time to accumulate. When we see the 200 day EMA's slope drop drastically (over 5% w/w) it is also a good signal to accumulate.
Strategy for Usage
For alts, the strategy can vary drastically. You need to take into account:
1. the market cap of the altcoin, is it a smaller market cap altcoin or a larger one?
2. historical trend, does it typically trend strongly with a smaller accumulation zone?
Once you've taken these into account you can form a strategy. For example, if the altcoin has had smaller accumulation zones historically you'll want to take advantage of the accumulation zones when they pop up and be more aggressive (say a 30 day accumulation). If the altcoin has historically had longer accumulation zones then you'll want to be more conservative with your strategy and potentially have a 100 day (or even longer) accumulation period. If the altcoin is a smaller market cap alt, you will want to also take that into account. You'll want to likely be more conservative,
STRONG BUY IN ACCUMULATION ZONE INDICATOR - DARK GREEN
Description
We can add to the bottoming signal by looking for strong downtrends inside the bottoming signal. We do this by seeing when the 36 day EMA has a slope decreasing by 2% day/day.
Strategy for Usage
These strong downtrend days can be used to add more to our accumulation strategy. We can add more on these days (ex. double what you were planning to on a typical accumulation day).
LOCAL TOP NEAR BULL RUN TOP INDICATOR - RED
Description
When the 100 week EMA is in a strong uptrend (4% increase w/w) we can look for significant loss of momentum in order to determine if a local top is in near a bull run top. This strategy uses a MACD with 9/36/9 config for the daily chart. We look for the signals momentum loss, when the slope becomes negative.
Strategy for Usage
Ideally the right strategy to use here is to exit the market when this indicator starts. When the indicator ends if the "Potential End of Bull Run Top Indicator" is not showing on the chart you can buy back into the market.
POTENTIAL END OF BULL RUN TOP INDICATOR - DARK RED
Description
When the 100 week EMA is in a strong uptrend (3% increase w/w), and a MACD config of 108/234/9 has a negative signal slope signifying a very large momentum loss, but the 1d 18 EMA is still above the 1d 63 EMA we show this signal.
Strategy for Usage
This is a strong indicator that the top is in, and it potentially being the bull run top. Because alts can vary strongly in their charts, this should be a strong warning but not necessarily a certainty that the bull run is over.
Gaussian Filter MACD [Loxx]Gaussian Filter MACD is a MACD that uses an 1-4 Pole Ehlers Gaussian Filter for its calculations. Compare this with Ehlers Fisher Transform.
What is Ehlers Gaussian filter?
This filter can be used for smoothing. It rejects high frequencies (fast movements) better than an EMA and has lower lag. published by John F. Ehlers in "Rocket Science For Traders". First implemented in Wealth-Lab by Dr René Koch.
A Gaussian filter is one whose transfer response is described by the familiar Gaussian bell-shaped curve. In the case of low-pass filters, only the upper half of the curve describes the filter. The use of gaussian filters is a move toward achieving the dual goal of reducing lag and reducing the lag of high-frequency components relative to the lag of lower-frequency components.
A gaussian filter with...
one pole is equivalent to an EMA filter.
two poles is equivalent to EMA ( EMA ())
three poles is equivalent to EMA ( EMA ( EMA ()))
and so on...
For an equivalent number of poles the lag of a Gaussian is about half the lag of a Butterworth filters: Lag = N * P / (2 * ¶2), where,
N is the number of poles, and
P is the critical period
Special initialization of filter stages ensures proper working in scans with as few bars as possible.
From Ehlers Book: "The first objective of using smoothers is to eliminate or reduce the undesired high-frequency components in the eprice data. Therefore these smoothers are called low-pass filters, and they all work by some form of averaging. Butterworth low-pass filtters can do this job, but nothing comes for free. A higher degree of filtering is necessarily accompanied by a larger amount of lag. We have come to see that is a fact of life."
