💡 What is an Open Range Breakout (ORB)?
The opening range represents the high and low established during the first few minutes of the trading session — usually 15 or 30 minutes. Many intraday strategies are based on the idea that breaking out of this initial range often signals strong momentum and trend continuation.
Traders often enter:
Long when price breaks above the range high.
Short when price breaks below the range low.

🔹 Session Settings
Range Session: Set your preferred window (e.g., 0930–0945). Can be premarket, first 30 mins, or any custom time.
Time zone: Use "America/New York" for EST (default) or change to "GMT+0" for international traders.

Bullish Breakout Signals: Number of allowed breakout alerts above the range.

Backtesting on Non-Standard Charts: Caution! - PineCoders FAQMuch confusion exists in the TradingView community about backtesting on non-standard charts. This script tries to shed some light on the subject in the hope that traders make better use of those chart types.
Non-standard charts are:
Heikin Ashi (HA)
Renko
Kagi
Point & Figure
Range
These chart types are called non-standard because they all transform market prices into synthetic views of price action. Some focus on price movement and disregard time. Others like HA use the same division of bars into fixed time intervals but calculate artificial open, high, low and close (OHLC) values.
Non-standard chart types can provide traders with alternative ways of interpreting price action, but they are not designed to test strategies or run automated traded systems where results depend on the ability to enter and exit trades at precise price levels at specific times, whether orders are issued manually or algorithmically. Ironically, the same characteristics that make non-standard chart types interesting from an analytical point of view also make them ill-suited to trade execution. Why? Because of the dislocation that a synthetic view of price action creates between its non-standard chart prices and real market prices at any given point in time. Switching from a non-standard chart price point into the market always entails a translation of time/price dimensions that results in uncertainty—and uncertainty concerning the level or the time at which orders are executed is detrimental to all strategies.
The delta between the chart’s price when an order is issued (which is assumed to be the expected price) and the price at which that order is filled is called slippage . When working from normal chart types, slippage can be caused by one or more of the following conditions:
• Time delay between order submission and execution. During this delay the market may move normally or be subject to large orders from other traders that will cause large moves of the bid/ask levels.
• Lack of bids for a market sell or lack of asks for a market buy at the current price level.
• Spread taken by middlemen in the order execution process.
• Any other event that changes the expected fill price.
When a market order is submitted, matching engines attempt to fill at the best possible price at the exchange. TradingView strategies usually fill market orders at the opening price of the next candle. A non-standard chart type can produce misleading results because the open of the next candle may or may not correspond to the real market price at that time. This creates artificial and often beneficial slippage that would not exist on standard charts.
Consider an HA chart. The open for each candle is the average of the previous HA bar’s open and close prices. The open of the HA candle is a synthetic value, but the real market open at the time the new HA candle begins on the chart is the unrelated, regular open at the chart interval. The HA open will often be lower on long entries and higher on short entries, resulting in unrealistically advantageous fills.
Another example is a Renko chart. A Renko chart is a type of chart that only measures price movement. The purpose of a Renko chart is to cluster price action into regular intervals, which consequently removes the time element. Because Trading View does not provide tick data as a price source, it relies on chart interval close values to construct Renko bricks. As a consequence, a new brick is constructed only when the interval close penetrates one or more brick thresholds. When a new brick starts on the chart, it is because the previous interval’s close was above or below the next brick threshold. The open price of the next brick will likely not represent the current price at the time this new brick begins, so correctly simulating an order is impossible.
Some traders have argued with us that backtesting and trading off HA charts and other non-standard charts is useful, and so we have written this script to show traders what happens when order fills from backtesting on non-standard charts are compared to real-world fills at market prices.
Let’s review how TV backtesting works. TV backtesting uses a broker emulator to execute orders. When an order is executed by the broker emulator on historical bars, the price used for the fill is either the close of the order’s submission bar or, more often, the open of the next. The broker emulator only has access to the chart’s prices, and so it uses those prices to fill orders. When backtesting is run on a non-standard chart type, orders are filled at non-standard prices, and so backtesting results are non-standard—i.e., as unrealistic as the prices appearing on non-standard charts. This is not a bug; where else is the broker emulator going to fetch prices than from the chart?
This script is a strategy that you can run on either standard or non-standard chart types. It is meant to help traders understand the differences between backtests run on both types of charts. For every backtest, a label at the end of the chart shows two global net profit results for the strategy:
• The net profits (in currency) calculated by TV backtesting with orders filled at the chart’s prices.
• The net profits (in currency) calculated from the same orders, but filled at market prices (fetched through security() calls from the underlying real market prices) instead of the chart’s prices.
If you run the script on a non-standard chart, the top result in the label will be the result you would normally get from the TV backtesting results window. The bottom result will show you a more realistic result because it is calculated from real market fills.
If you run the script on a normal chart type (bars, candles, hollow candles, line, area or baseline) you will see the same result for both net profit numbers since both are run on the same real market prices. You will sometimes see slight discrepancies due to occasional differences between chart prices and the corresponding information fetched through security() calls.
Features
• Results shown in the Data Window (third icon from the top right of your chart) are:
— Cumulative results
— For each order execution bar on the chart, the chart and market previous and current fills, and the trade results calculated from both chart and market fills.
• You can choose between 2 different strategies, both elementary.
• You can use HA prices for the calculations determining entry/exit conditions. You can use this to see how a strategy calculated from HA values can run on a normal chart. You will notice that such strategies will not produce the same results as the real market results generated from HA charts. This is due to the different environment backtesting is running on where for example, position sizes for entries on the same bar will be calculated differently because HA and standard chart close prices differ.
• You can choose repainting/non-repainting signals.
• You can show MAs, entry/exit markers and market fill levels.
• You can show candles built from the underlying market prices.
• You can color the background for occurrences where an order is filled at a different real market price than the chart’s price.
Notes
• On some non-standard chart types you will not obtain any results. This is sometimes due to how certain types of non-standard types work, and sometimes because the script will not emit orders if no underlying market information is detected.
• The script illustrates how those who want to use HA values to calculate conditions can do so from a standard chart. They will then be getting orders emitted on HA conditions but filled at more realistic prices because their strategy can run on a standard chart.
• On some non-standard chart types you will see market results surpass chart results. While this may seem interesting, our way of looking at it is that it points to how unreliable non-standard chart backtesting is, and why it should be avoided.
• In order not to extend an already long description, we do not discuss the particulars of executing orders on the realtime bar when using non-standard charts. Unless you understand the minute details of what’s going on in the realtime bar on a particular non-standard chart type, we recommend staying away from this.
• Some traders ask us: Why does TradingView allow backtesting on non-standard chart types if it produces unrealistic results? That’s somewhat like asking a hammer manufacturer why it makes hammers if hammers can hurt you. We believe it’s a trader’s responsibility to understand the tools he is using.

Daily MAs on Intraday ChartsThis is a very simple, yet powerful indicator, for intraday and swing traders.
The indicator plots price levels of key daily moving averages as horizontal lines onto intraday charts.
The key daily moving averages being:
5-day EMA
10-day EMA
21-day EMA
50-day SMA
100-day SMA
200-day SMA
The moving averages above can be toggled on and off to the users liking and different colours selected to show the locations of daily moving average price levels on intraday charts.
Below is a chart of the SPY on the 30-minute timeframe. The black line represents the price level of the SPY's 10-day EMA, and the blue line represents the price level of the SPY's 21-day EMA.
Key daily moving averages like those mentioned above can be areas of support or resistance for major indexes, ETFs, and individual stocks. Therefore, when using multiple timeframe analysis combining daily charts and intraday charts, it's useful to be aware of these key daily moving average levels for potential reversals.
This indicator clearly shows where the key daily moving average price levels are on intraday charts for the chosen ticker symbol, thus helping traders to identify potential points of interest for trading ideas - i.e., going long or pullbacks into key daily moving averages, or short on rallies into key daily moving averages subject to the trader's thoughts at the time.
By using the 'Daily MAs on Intraday Charts' the trader can now have a multi-chart layout and be easily aware of key price levels from daily moving averages when looking at various intraday timeframe charts such as the 1-minute, 5-minute, 15-minute, 30-minute, 1-hour etc. This can be essential information for opening long and short trading ideas.
Aynet- True Wick Projector for Non-Standard ChartsTechnical Explanation: "Data Projection and Synchronization"
This script is, at its core, a "data projection" tool. The fundamental technical problem it solves is compensating for the information loss that occurs when using different data visualization models.
1. The Core Problem: Information Loss
Standard Charts (Time-Based): Normal candlesticks are time-based. Each candle represents a fixed time interval (like 1 hour or 1 day) and displays the complete Open, High, Low, and Close (OHLC) data for that period. The "wicks" show the volatility and the extreme price points (the High and Low).
Non-Standard Charts (Price/Momentum-Based): Charts like Kagi, Renko, or Line Break filter out time. Their only concern is price movement. While one Renko box or Kagi line is forming, 10 or more time-based candles might have formed in the background. During this "noise filtering" process, the true high and low values (the wicks) from those underlying candles are lost.
The problem is this: A trader looking at a non-standard chart cannot see how high or low the price actually went while that block or line was forming. This is a critical loss of information regarding market volatility, support/resistance levels, and price rejection.
2. The Technical Solution: A "Dual Data Stream"
This script intelligently combines two different data streams to compensate for this information loss:
Main Stream (Current Chart): The open and close data from your active Kagi, Renko, etc., chart.
Secondary Stream (Projected Data): The high and low data from the underlying standard (time-based) chart.
3. The Code's Methodical Steps
Step 1: Identifying the Data Source (syminfo...)
This step precisely identifies the source for the secondary data stream. By using syminfo.prefix + ":" + syminfo.ticker (e.g., "NASDAQ:AAPL"), it guarantees that the data is pulled from the exact correct instrument and exchange.
Step 2: Data Request & "Lookahead" Synchronization (request.security)
This is the most critical part of the operation.
request.security(...): This is the function Pine Script uses to pull data from another dataset (the secondary stream) onto the current chart.
: This tells the function, "The only data I care about is the 'High' and 'Low' of the standard candle from that timeframe."
lookahead = barmerge.lookahead_on (The Critical Key): This command solves the "time paradox."
Normally (without this): request.security fetches data from the last completed bar. But as your Kagi bar is currently forming, the standard candle is also currently forming. This would cause the data to always be one bar behind (lag).
With lookahead_on: This permits the script to "look ahead" at the data from the currently forming, incomplete standard bar. Because of this, as your Kagi bar moves, the true wick data is updated in real-time. This achieves real-time synchronization.
Step 3: Visual Engineering (plotcandle)
After the script retrieves the data, it must "draw" it. However, it only wants to draw the wicks, not the candle bodies.
bodyTop and bodyBottom: First, it finds the top and bottom of the current Kagi bar's body (using math.max(open, close)).
Plotting the Upper Wick (Green):
It calls the plotcandle function and instructs it to draw a fake candle.
It fixes this fake candle's Open, Low, and Close (open, low, close) values to the top of the Kagi bar's body (bodyTop).
It only sets the High (high) value to the realHigh it fetched with request.security.
The result: A wick is drawn from the bodyTop level up to the realHigh level, with no visible body.
Plotting the Lower Wick (Red):
It applies the reverse logic.
It fixes the fake candle's Open, High, and Close values to the bottom of the Kagi bar's body (bodyBottom).
It only sets the Low (low) value to the realLow.
The result: A lower wick is drawn from bodyBottom down to realLow.
Invisibility (color.new(color.white, 100)):
In both plotcandle calls, the color (body color) and bordercolor are set to 100 transparency. This makes the "fake" candle bodies completely invisible, leaving only the colored wicks.
Conclusion (Technical Summary)
This script reclaims the volatility data (the wicks) that is naturally sacrificed by non-standard charts.
It achieves this with technical precision by creating a secondary data stream using request.security and synchronizing it with zero lag using the lookahead_on parameter.
Finally, it intelligently manipulates the plotcandle function (by creating invisible bodies) to project this lost data onto your Kagi/Renko chart as an "augmented reality" layer. This allows a trader to benefit from the clean, noise-filtered view of a non-standard chart without losing access to the full picture of market volatility.
WON WeekliesWilliam O'Neil was a big proponent of using weekly charts, often highlighting the significance of 3 or more tight weekly closes, or a sequence of five or more consecutive up weeks. This indicator recognizes both of these conditions providing clear visual cues to signify this institutional buying activity. When three tight weekly closes or more occur a circle will be drawn around the middle close or the background will change color, depending on user preference. If five or more consecutive up weeks are detected a box is drawn around all the price action of those weeks.
User Options:
- Choose to display both or only one condition
- Customizable colors
- Define what a tight close is (default is less than 1.5%)
- Change background color or display smaller circles for 3 weeks tight
- Alerts for both
Note: 5 weekly closes wont print until the 5th weeks candle is closed.

Daily Moving Averages on Intraday ChartsThis moving average script displays the chosen 5 daily moving averages on intraday (minute) charts. It automatically adjusts the intervals to show the proper moving averages.
In a day there are 375 trading minutes from 9:15 AM to 3:30PM in Indian market. In 5 days there are 1875 minutes. For other markets adjust this data accordingly.
If 5DMA is chosen on a five minute chart the moving average will use 375 interval values (1875/5 = 375) of 5minute chart to calculate moving average. Same 5DMA on 25minute chart will use 75 interval values (1875/25 = 75).
On a 1minute chart the 5DMA plot will use 1875 interval values to arrive at the moving average.
Since tradingview only allows 5000 intervals to lookback, if a particular daily moving average on intraday chart needs more than 5000 candle data it won't be shown. E.g 200DMA on 5minute chart needs 15000 candles data to plot a correct 200DMA line. Anything less than that would give incorrect moving average and hence it won't be shown on the chart.
MA crossover for the first two MAs is provided. If you want to use that option, make sure you give the moving averages in the correct order.
You can enhance this script and use it in any way you please as long as you make it opensource on TradingView. Feedback and improvement suggestions are welcome.

RedK Relative Strength Ribbon: RS Ribbon and RS ChartsRedK Relative Strength Ribbon (RedK RS_Ribbon) is TA tool that plots the Relative Strength of the current chart symbol against another symbol, or an index of choice. It enables us to see when a stock is gaining strength (or weakness) relative to (an index that represents) the market, and when it hits new highs or lows of that relative strength, which may lead to better trading decisions.
I searched TV for existing RS indicators but didn't find what I really wanted, so I put this together and added some additional features for my own use. It started as a simple RS line with new x-weeks Hi/Lo markers, then evolved into what you see here in v1.0 with the ability to plot a full RS chart in regular or HA candle types. Hope this will be useful to some other growth traders here on TV.
What is Relative Strength (RS)

(RS is a comprehensive concept in TA, below is a quick summary - please research further if it's not already a familiar topic)
Relative Strength (RS) is a technical concept / indicator used mainly by growth / swing / momentum traders to compare the performance of one security or asset against another. RS measures the price performance of a specific security relative to a benchmark, such as an index or another asset. It's not to be confused with the famous Relative Strength Index (RSI) technical indicator
For example, In the context of comparing a stock's relative strength to the SPY (S&P 500) index, the relative strength calculation involves dividing the stock's price or price-related value (e.g., close price) by the corresponding value of the SPY index. The resulting ratio (and its trend over time) indicates the relative performance of the stock compared to the index.
Traders and investors use relative strength analysis to identify securities that have been showing relative strength or weakness compared to a benchmark, which can help in making investment decisions or identifying the "market leaders" and potential trading opportunities.
There are so many books and documentation about the RS concept and its importance to identify market leaders, especially when recovering from a bear market - if you're interested in the concept, please search more about it and review some of that literature. RedK RS_Ribbon features and options

The indicator settings provide many options and features - see the settings box below
- Change / choose base symbol
The default is to use SPY as the base symbol - so we're comparing the chart's symbol to a proxy of the S&P 500 - Some traders may prefer to use the QQQ - or other index or ETF that acts as a proxy for the industry / sector / market they are trading
- RS Calculation / RS line
we use the simple form of the RS calculation,
RS = closing price of current chart symbol / closing price of the base symbol (default is SPY) * 100
some RS documentation will use the Rate of Change (RoC) - but that's not what we're using here.
- The RS_Ribbon
* Once the RS line is plotted, it made sense to add couple of moving averages to it, to make it easier to observe the trend of the RS and the changes in that trend as you can see in the sample chart on top.
* The RS_Ribbon is made up of a fast and slow moving averages and will change color (green / red) based on detected trend RS direction - the 2 MA types and lengths can be changed until you get the setup that provides the best view for you of the RS trend over time. My preferred settings are used as defaults here.
- Identifying New (x)Week Hi/Lo RS Values
* Most traders would be interested when the calculated RS hits a new 52-week high or low value.
* There are cases where we may want to see when a new RS Hi/Lo has been hit for a different period - for example, a quarter (13 weeks)
* the number of weeks can be changed as well as adjusting the numbers of trading days per week (if needed for certain symbols/exchanges)
- Working with Different Timeframes
* Now these "markers" will only be available in the daily and weekly timeframes and there is a good reason for that, it's not the fact that i'm lazy :) and that enabling this in timeframes lower than 1D would have been some heavy lifting, but the reality is that with RS, we're really interested if a "day's close" hits a new RS high or low value against the moving window of x weeks (and the weeks close also) - if you think of this more, at lower TF, RS can hit a lower value that never end up registering on the daily closing and that causes a lot of visual confusion. So i took the "cleaner way out" of that issue.
* note that you can choose a different timeframe for the RS_Ribbon than the chart - if you do, please make sure the chart is at a lower timeframe than the indicator's - (and in that case remember to hide the candles because they won't make much sense)
i wanted to leverage TV's built-in multi-Timeframe (MTF) support with the caveat that using the indicator at lower TF with a chart at a higher TF (example chart at 1Wk and indicator at 1D) will show inaccurate results. If this sounds confusing, keep the indicator TF same as the chart.

- Using RS Charts and RS Candles
* Beside the ability to plot the RS "closing" value with the RS line, the indicator provides the ability to show a "full" RS Chart with candles that represent the relative values of open, high, low. and close against the base symbol.
* the RS Charts can be used for regular chart analysis, for example, we can identify common chart patterns like Cup & Handle, VCP, Head & Shoulder..etc using these charts .. which can provide some edge over the price charts
* for the Heikin Ashi fans, I added the ability to choose classic or HA candles for the chart. note you have to enable the option to show the RS candles first before you choose the option to switch to HA.

* RS is a good way to identify market/sector leaders (who will usually recover from a bear market before others) - and enable us to see the strength that comes from the broader makrket versus the one that comes from the stock's own performance and identify good trading opportunities

* as usual, if you decide to use this in your chart analysis, it's necessary to combine with other momentum, trend, ...etc indicators and do not make trading decision only based on the signales from a single indicator

John F. Ehlers introuced Corona Charts Swing Position Indicator in Nov, 2008.
Function
John Ehlers's corona indicators, "Corona Charts," provide a "multidimensional" view of market activity. In the article "Corona Charts" in Nov, 2008, John Ehlers further developed his earlier work on market cycles. A new kind of indicator was presented that uses a glow-like effect to present another dimension of data. Implementation of corona charts in pine v4 helps detect dominant cycles in data. It provides a corona chart for swing positions indicator.
Dr. Ehlers claims that a corona is displayed when the market is in a trend and there is little cyclic component. The swing position indicator shows the phasing of the data within the dominant cycle. A value of -5 means the cycle is at its valley. A value of +5 means the cycle is at its peak. In a pure cycle the Swing Position will trace out the shape of a sine wave. However, I normalized it to overlay it together with Corona Chart heat maps.

In real life, I am a prolific inventor. I have successfully applied for more than 60 international and regional patents in the past 12 years. But in the past two years or so, I have tried to transfer my creativity to the development of trading strategies. Tradingview is the ideal platform for me. I am selecting and contributing some of the hundreds of scripts to publish in Tradingview community. Welcome everyone to interact with me to discuss these interesting pine scripts.
The scripts posted are categorized into 5 levels according to my efforts or manhours put into these works.
Level 1 : interesting script snippets or distinctive improvement from classic indicators or strategy. Level 1 scripts can usually appear in more complex indicators as a function module or element.
Level 2 : composite indicator/strategy. By selecting or combining several independent or dependent functions or sub indicators in proper way, the composite script exhibits a resonance phenomenon which can filter out noise or fake trading signal to enhance trading confidence level.
Level 3 : comprehensive indicator/strategy. They are simple trading systems based on my strategies. They are commonly containing several or all of entry signal, close signal, stop loss, take profit, re-entry, risk management, and position sizing techniques. Even some interesting fundamental and mass psychological aspects are incorporated.
Level 4 : script snippets or functions that do not disclose source code. Interesting element that can reveal market laws and work as raw material for indicators and strategies. If you find Level 1~2 scripts are helpful, Level 4 is a private version that took me far more efforts to develop.
Level 5 : indicator/strategy that do not disclose source code. private version of Level 3 script with my accumulated script processing skills or a large number of custom functions. I had a private function library built in past two years. Level 5 scripts use many of them to achieve private trading strategy.
Real Price for Heikin Ashi ChartsThe indicator is in the top left of the screen! That's all there is, by design.
This is a super simple indicator that allows you to see what the real price of a candle was when using Heikin Ashi charts, while not cluttering up your screen.
HA charts are a great way to help those who can be spooked by the chaos of the markets (I'm one!), but they have a big drawback in that the price you see on a HA candle is often significantly different from the real price that you would trade on. This brings issues of unrealistic expectations of profits/losses, and also makes back testing a strategy very difficult. I still wouldn't recommend ever using TradingView's "strategy" tool when using HA charts, but using this indicator you can do accurate manual back tests.
There's nothing plotted on the screen given that there's no real point in it, but you can make the lines appear if you wish - just go into settings and change the transparency.
The order of the numbers on the indicator match the OHLC (Open, High, Low, Close) format.
There's also settings to turn off one or more of the OHLC values, simply open the settings and go to Inputs. This could be useful for some people, as the High and Low values of HA candles are the same as regular candles. Only the Open and Close are different.

This indicator was originally created to display 1-hour Books lines on the 5-minute chart of Gold (XAUUSD).
It should also work on other USD-related pairs (major dollar crosses).
The indicator plots higher-timeframe Books lines (buy/sell) directly onto a lower-timeframe chart. Active lines are displayed with strong emphasis, and once invalidated they can optionally remain as inactive lines.
It can be applied to any timeframe combination, so please test and adjust it according to your own trading style.

MF Time Travel (Delay or Forward Charts) by MigueFinanceThis indicator allows you to "Time Travel" aka. delay or advance (or forward) the on-screen chart/indicator as well as well as to do the same with other additional charts that can be configured in the settings.
This might be very useful when comparing with other (or the same) indicator in time, if you consider probably an incoming move based on another time performance.
About the Settings:
The moved in time charts can also be expanded or contracted, as well as they can be moved vertically (offset).
To Delay put positive values on the weeks settings, to Advance put Negative values on the same.
The Expansion or Contraction Factor is simply a multiplier of amplitude so you can multiply by number like 0.5, 2, etc
The Vertical Offset simply moves up and down the indicator.
The Labels will also tell you the number of weeks and years that were changed so as to have a reference, as well as the indicator being used.
