What are digital indicators: distinctions from standard tools, types of filters.
To date, dozens of technical analysis indicators have been developed: trend instruments, oscillators, etc. Most of them use the method of averaging historical data, which is considered crude. But there is another group of tools - digital indicators developed on the basis of mathematical methods of spectral analysis. Their formula allows the trader to filter price noise accurately and exclude occasional surges, making the forecast more effective in comparison with conventional indicators. In this review, you will learn about their distinctions, advantages, types of digital indicators and examples of strategies based on them.
Two non-standard strategies based on digital indicators
Basic technical analysis indicators built into most platforms are based on mathematical formulas. These formulas are a reflection of market behavior in past periods. In other words, these indicators are built based on patterns that were discovered as a result of statistical analysis, which allows one to predict further trend movement to some extent. But there is also a group of indicators called digital indicators. They are developed using mathematical analysis and are an algorithmic spectral system called ATCF (Adaptive Trend & Cycles Following). In this article, I will tell you more about the components of this system, describe the differences between digital and regular indicators, and give examples of 2 strategies with indicator templates.
ATCF - Market Spectrum Analysis Method
There is a theory according to which the market is chaotic and unpredictable, i.e. it cannot be accurately analyzed. After all, no one can tell how traders will react to certain news, or whether some large investor will want to play against the market like George Soros did with the Bank of England. But there is another theory: many general market trends are logical, and have a rationale, causes and effects. The economy is undulating, which means it can be described by mathematical methods.
Digital indicators are defined as a group of algorithms for assessing the market situation, which are based exclusively on mathematical methods. They differ from standard indicators by the form of analysis display. They display certain values: price, smoothed price, volumes. Many standard indicators are built on the basis of filtering the minute significant price fluctuations with the help of moving averages and their variations. But we can hardly call the MA a good filter, because digital indicators that use spectral filters make it possible to do a more accurate calculation.
Simply put, digital indicators are technical analysis tools in which spectral filters are used to filter out price noise instead of moving averages.
The display of traditional indicators is lines, areas, and channels. Digital indicators can be displayed both in the form of lines and in digital form (a set of numbers in columns, any data in a text field, etc.). The digital display of the data is more like an additional source of statistics; for trading, a standard visual linear chart view is used.
All digital models belong to the category of spectral analysis of the market situation. In conventional technical indicators, price indications are averaged over a fixed period of time, which gives a rather rough result. The use of spectral analysis allows us to increase trading efficiency due to the fact that digital indicators use a statistical data set of past periods, which is converted into a “frequency” of the market (period of fluctuations).
Fourier theory provides the following spectral ranging of the trend duration:
low frequency range (0-4) - a reflection of a long trend of 2 months or more
medium frequency range (5-40) - the trend lasts 10-60 days, thus it is referred to as a correction
high frequency range (41-130) - price noise that lasts for several days
The ATCF algorithm is built on the basis of spectral analysis and includes a set of indicators created using digital filters. Its consists of indicators and filters:
FATL: Built on the basis of a low-frequency digital trend filter
SATL: Built on the basis of a low-frequency digital trend filter of a different order
RFTL: High frequency trend line
RSTL: Low frequency trend line

What is Williams %R?
Williams %R, also known as the Williams Percent Range, is a type of momentum indicator that moves between 0 and -100 and measures overbought and oversold levels. The Williams %R may be used to find entry and exit points in the market. The indicator is very similar to the Stochastic oscillator and is used in the same way. It was developed by Larry Williams and it compares a stock’s closing price to the high-low range over a specific period, typically 14 days or periods.
Included:
-Toggle on/off bar coloring
-Toggle on/off signal line
Trend Trigger Factor w/ Discontinued Signal Lines [Loxx]Trend Trigger Factor w/ Discontinued Signal Lines is a Trend Trigger Factor indicator with floating boundary lines to identify trends earlier
What is the Trend Trigger Factor?
Designed by M.H. Pee, the Trend Trigger Factors role is to help traders detect uptrends and downtrends and thus allow them to better position themselves in a with-trend manner. Its creator argues that the markets are mostly random but have a small trend component, which is the most crucial part of trading success. Being able to determine whether the market is in a bull or bear trend and how strong that trend is will allow you to be on the right side of the market for longer, capitalizing as much as possible on its trending behavior.
In his article, M.H. Pee used a 15-period trackback span to explain the calculations. The TTF formula is based on the so-called Buy Power and Sell Power. In his example, Pee labeled today as day 1, yesterday as day 2, the preceding day as day 3 and so on
What's new in this indicator?
Averages filter out prices prior to being used in calculation. That way the lag added is smaller than when the smoothing is used on the calculated result.
Unlike the original which uses levels +100 and -100 as significant levels for signal triggering, this version is using discontinued signal lines for trend filtering. That way it makes it a bit more responsive to market conditions
How do I use this?
The Trend Trigger Factor is similar in interpretation to the Relative Strength Index. It is plotted on a scale with most prominent levels at +100 and -100, crosses of which logically signal possible trade entries. The difference here, however, is that the upper and lower boundary flex with price movements so the upper and lower boundary shift dynamically. Crosses above the top line signify bullish sentiment, crossed below the the bottom line signify bearish sentiment.
Ext/Non EMA SignalsThis allows for one EMA to reference the regular session well the other references the extended session. A green arrow will appear above a bear candle closing above both the EMAs and a Red arrow on bull candles closing below both.
This saves me time from jumping back and forth from extended sessions and regular session.
Let me know if you have any questions, I just recently started using Pine Editor to build indicators I was not able to find in the library.
Price Action SignalsIndicator that shows buy/sell signals based on price action as it relates to a 20 day moving average. If the candle is above the 20 day moving average, we look for candles with long wicks on the top indicating selling pressure. If the candle is below the 20 day moving average we look for candles with a long bottom wick indicating buying pressure. The rules for the wick and the price action can be modified by the user. The two user defined parameters are price movement and wick length.
For instance, the user can choose to only show arrows when candle has moved by X amount. The smaller the timeframe, the smaller the amount. I Recommended the following values when looking at SPY:
On a 1m chart: .10 cents
5min chart: .15 cents
15m chart: .25 cents
1h chart: 1 dollar,
1D chart: 2 dollars
Your mileage will vary.
With the wicks, you choose a percentage. You can choose to only show an arrow above or below a candle if the wick size is at least x% the size of the candle body.
TUE ADX Crossover Signals V1.0This simple indicator gives you a way to visualize ADX crossovers on your chart and is a good companion if you like to trade with the ADX.
Green candles have a DI+ over DI- crossover, and vice versa for the red candles.
It gives you the ability to turn on and off BUY and SELL signals generated from the ADX crossovers.
Code is provided open source, feel free to use it for any purpose other than resale.

RSI Wave SignalsQuick Description: Smoothed RSI with optimized trailing moving average. Look for cross above or cross under signals for buy and sell orders respectively.
VIDYA moving average of RSI incorporated with "optimized trend tracker" system. Thanks to kivancozbilgic and anilozeksi for implementing this great idea on Tradingview. The indicator adds "1,000" to the RSI MA values for more natural and accurate percentage trailing.
Settings:
- Period MA is the moving average length of the blue line
- Trailing Percentage of MA adjusts the percentage (sort of) trailing level of the moving average.
- RSI Length adjusts the rsi length in calculation.
Trading Tips:
- System might be enhanced by taking signals only on "oversold" or "overbought" territories (i.e <~1020 or >~1080)
- Adjust position size of by 4 times of atr(length=14)
- Take 50% of position as profit when position reaches the 4*atr TP Level (breakeven)
- Let the rest ride.
- Best performing on short frequencies such as 1, 3, 5 mins.
Candle relative powerThis indicator tries to measure the power of candle.
You can also integrate some candles to measure the power. The “Length” is for integrating candles. If the Length is equal 5, it means indicator calculate power of recent 5 candles.
The second editable factor in “Shadow index” which represent the power of shadows.
The last factor in Average Criteria which is the module of comparing the integrated candles to the past market moves.
This indicator do not supposed to create trading signals! But, you can see every time it breaks the static line it is a sign of bulls or bears power.
I personally use it as a candle power meter so I will evaluate the power of breakouts or trend continuations.
Time Traders Signalbuy and sell signal based upon some indicators you will get buy and sell singals with label
