Blank check

What is a blank check company?

A blank check company is a company that goes public without having an existing business or operations. Its only purpose is to raise money through an IPO and later use those funds to acquire or merge with another company.

The most common type of blank check company is a SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Company).

Because these companies have no products, revenue, or active operations at the time of the IPO, investors are essentially buying into the management team and its plan to find a suitable target in the future.
