There are two primary types of options: Call Options and Put Options. A Call Option gives the buyer the right to purchase an underlying asset at a specific price (called the strike price) before or on a certain date (known as the expiry date). Traders buy calls when they expect the price of the asset to rise. Conversely, a Put Option gives the buyer the right to sell the asset at the strike price within a specific period. Traders buy puts when they anticipate the asset’s price will fall.
