ความต้องการทองคำเพิ่มสูงขึ้นเนื่องจากนักลงทุนยังคงเดิมพันว่าธนาคารกลางสหรัฐสามารถกลับนโยบายการเงินและลดอัตราดอกเบี้ยได้เร็วที่สุดในช่วงต้นเดือนมีนาคม 2567

ความก้าวหน้าในการประชุมเมื่อสุดสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาเกิดขึ้นแม้ว่าธนาคารกลางสหรัฐจะมุ่งมั่นในการดำเนินนโยบายการเงินที่เข้มงวดก็ตาม ด้วยเหตุนี้ นายเจอโรม พาวเวลล์ ประธานธนาคารกลางสหรัฐจึงกล่าวเมื่อวันที่ 1 ธันวาคมว่าเขายังคงไม่มั่นใจว่านโยบายการเงินในปัจจุบันไม่เพียงพอที่จะลดอัตราเงินเฟ้อของสหรัฐฯ ให้เหลือระดับเป้าหมายที่ 2%
