While we are still short on the BTC I have been playing around with the strategy settings on a new script I am working on and BOY did I learn an important lesson today! If you haven't been following along then let me just quick mention that I am still learning scripting and backtesting and I am posting my findings along the way - so please be kind. :)
During the creation of this script I made a huge discovery! I have always known that you had to take into account that the exchange wants their cut as well so I figured that there must be a way to add that in - and there is! Hurray! ..or.. Well - at least I discovered that a script I was quite thrilled about showed up to be not that great after all! Bad? NO! Good! I love that I can use TradingView to discard an idea or a script in an early stage!
SO! The results you see below was before I added in the data for my strategy. I like to stack my earning with a 100% and having a low starting capital just to see how it would perform. So my strategy settings was set to: Starting capital: 1000 currency: USD Order size: 100% equity Commision 0.2% (Binance is at 0.1% and even lower when using BNB but I like to be a med pessimistic)
NOW the chart results ended up with: $8517 435 trades 38.39% accuracy 1319 profit factor 41.34% drawdown
Holy crap what a bommer! I really liked this script! So I learned an important lesson today and I hope this post can help someone else out there to be more carefull when creating and testing scripts! :)
