How Can You Be A Dividend Investor?

NASDAQ:AAPL   Apple Inc
In the list above I have selected some of the stocks that have the EX-Divided Date for 08-July-2021 and 09-July-2021. For all of them that don't know how the dividends work I will explain it in simple words.
The dividends are paid according to the company policy. Most of the time they are paid on a quarterly basis as the company wants to seduce the investors to invest in it. Anyway, it is not a must that you should buy and keep the dividend for 3 months in order for you to benefit from the dividend. A minimum requirement is that you must buy the stock 1 day before the EX-Divided Date and you must be the stockholder during the ex-dividend day.
*The Record Date is another important date.
Usually, it is one day after the EX-Dividend Date. The Records Date is the cut-off date used to determine which shareholders of stock are entitled to a dividend.
This means that you may sell the stock 1 day after the EX-dividend day that is the Record Date and you will benefit from the dividend payment. So basically, you may sell the stocks whenever you want after the EX-Divided Date, if you see that you may benefit also from the market movements on any change in the price.
*If you will sell your stock on the EX-Dividend Date you will not benefit from dividends. It does not matter if you held the shares in your wallet before these dates.

Example:
In our situation, the EX-Dividend Date is 08-July-2021. So in order to benefit from dividends, you should buy the stocks today on 07-July-2021 and you may sell the stocks whenever you want beginning from 09-July-2021.

Thank you and Good Luck!
